Unconventional Beauty

Just when I thought my big break was coming, it wasn't.... just yet. Long story short, my father had connections to a modeling agency and I sent photos to them through our connection. The agency thought I was beautiful, but they only work with girls sizes 0-4. Anybody who's seen me in person knows I'm nowhere near a size 4, and I don't plan to be that size anytime soon. Last night I was watching America's Next Top Model, and coincidentally they shared the most inspiring message yet. Ashley Graham, the first plus size supermodel and judge on ANTM, broke down the concept of "unconventional beauty" which is your imperfections that make you beautiful. Ashley explained that her unconventional beauty was her size, how she'd been turned down from many of opportunity and people because she was too big and didn't fit standards, but she never let it get to her. She then went on to say, "The minute you start making all the decisions, is when you start succeeding" (I don't remember word for word lol). I decided that I love the way I look, my hips, my thighs and everything else God blessed me with. I'm not going to change just to fit into standards, I don't wanna be cliche nor was I born to be. I want to stand out, I've always stood out, and that's one of the reasons I like being tall, I stand out! My unconventional beauty just might be that I'm full figured, I'm not skinny and I never have been nor do I want to be. I find it so much more important to share the me I am most comfortable with, than a version of myself society deems as "model material". When you really look around, there aren't that many models that regular girls can relate to, and I want to be that girl people look at and say "same". Ladies, love yourself. If you don't take away anything else from this message, I want you to love yourself. We all have imperfections and things we wish we could change, but you are worthy! You are worthy of everything you want and desire, and the first person who has to believe that is you! We all have to be dismissed and shut down from opportunity some time, but if you keep a positive attitude and confident mindset I promise you'll have the last laugh. I don't consider this to be an L for me, I didn't lose out on anything, the agency lost out on me. I'm gonna keep doing photoshoots, and see where God takes me, because I know he doesn't close one door without opening another one...
